A 79-YEAR-OLD man was trapped and injured in his car in a three-car collision on the M13 in Kloof.

According to Werner Vermaak, the spokesman for ER24, paramedics arrived at the scene at 10.30am and found the man trapped inside his VW caddy. “It is understood that maintenance was being carried out which resulted in the lanes to be closed off at the collision site,” said Vermaak.

Paramedics, with the help of local fire fighters, used the jaws of life to free the man from his vehicle. Once freed, he was reassessed on scene and transported to Hillcrest Private Hospital.

Another person was transported from the scene with minor injuries by another ambulance service.
