Stokers owner locked up for good ‘paws’

More than R20 000 was raised for the Kloof and Highway SPCA through this fundraising initiative.

LOCAL business owner, Guy Stone, was locked up on the railway line at the end of July to help raise much-needed funds for the Kloof and Highway SPCA.

The Stokers Arms owner was put in a cage and was joined by two four-legged jail mates, Tyson the toy pom, and Ruby the basset hound. An incredible R21 600 in bail money was raised by the community for Guy Stone’s lock-up.

“All funds raised will go to the Kloof and Highway SPCA which receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of our community to enable us to continue our work in animal welfare. A special thank-you to Guy Stone for taking on this challenge and braving the elements to help raise funds for the Kloof and Highway SPCA and a heartfelt thanks to each and every person who donated,” said Lisa Mörck, the PR and outreach officer at the Kloof and Highway SPCA.
