Uncovered manhole disturbs Westmead workers

The issue has been reported numerous times, but remains unresolved.

A STORMWATER manhole situated at the intersection of Brand and Henry Pennington (Richmond) Road, Westmead has sparked concern among workers.

Workers around the area have complained that the manhole, which is about three metres deep, has been missing a cover for nearly two months.

One of the workers said he was worried that someone might fall into it, especially when it get dark as the street lights are also not working.

“The cover was damaged during the road constructions two months ago.

“I have reported the matter numerous times, but nothing has been done,” he said.

A concerned worker has covered the manhole with pellets to try and prevent an accident. The Highway Mail asked for comment from the eThekwini Municipality but none was received at the time of publication.
