Police nab wanted serial rapist
The man befriended his victims and lured them to a nearby bush where he would rape them.

A 22-YEAR-OLD man who was wanted for raping young women in the Pinetown CBD was arrested on Wednesday by the Pinetown Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS). The man has been allegedly terrorising victims aged between 11 and 22 years.
“In all incidents, the man would approach the victims in the Pinetown CBD, befriend them and then lure them towards a nearby forest. At some stage, he would threaten them with a breadknife and eventually rape them,” said KZN spokesperson, Col Thembeka Mbhele.
Mbhele said the recent incident took place on Tuesday, 17 January.
“The victim (22) was in the Pinetown centre, walking to one of the shops when she was approached by the man. The man asked the victim’s name and started befriending her. He then requested the victim to accompany him to fetch money from his mother who is a domestic worker.”
“As they were walking in Lahee Park, the man suddenly grabbed the victim and forced her to the bushes and raped her,” said Mbhele.
The case was reported at the Pinetown police station and handed over to Pinetown FCS.
“Police have been working tirelessly to catch the man since the reporting of these cases and he was finally arrested in Josiah Gumede Road,” said Mbhele.
