Two arrested for Hillcrest hijacking
The men have been linked to other hijacking and robbery cases in the Pinetown Cluster.
THE Hillcrest task team made a breakthrough in a hijacking case that took place in KwaNgcolosi, Hillcrest on Friday, 17 February.
Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele said it is alleged the complainant was hijacked in his white Toyota Hilux club cab.
“While police were patrolling the Kwangcolosi area, they received a message about the stolen motor vehicle. They searched for the vehicle along Fanini Road and they found it on a dirt road in the bottom of the graveyard in lower Molweni,” he said.
Two men aged 25 and 30 were arrested and one escaped.
“The men have been linked to many hijacking and robbery cases that have been taking place in the Pinetown Cluster. It is alleged that these men were using a black Golf 5 with different registrations numbers,” said Manqele.
Both men were charged for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Hillcrest police are urging the community to be vigilant when travelling through Fanini Road as numerous hijacking cases been reported there.
“We also appeal to the community to work with the police to curb crime in the area,” added Manqele.
