Enjoy nature at the Highway Festival

Monies from all events go to Lions charities and community projects.

DON’t miss the Highway Festival this weekend, hosted by the Gillitts-Camperdown Lions Club to raise funds for Lions charities and community work.

Among the great line up of activities is the popular Open Gardens featuring eight diverse gardens to inspire you this weekend from 3 to 5 March.

One of the mixed exotic and indigenous gardens on show is 9 Assagay Road, at the base of Botha’s Hill which boasts four beautiful acres. With both indigenous and pretty exotics planted specifically for her British husband, the garden is one to please all tastes. A meander through the garden gives you a window to different views. Large, stunning trees provide a filigreed ‘ceiling’ and dappled light, making it feel comfortable in the heat of the day. A stream flows through and adds to the sense of peace that this garden gives. Book your tickets for the Open Gardens through WebTickets.

Lion Talks is a series of talks of special interest to gardeners and lovers of nature by experts in their fields. This week’s talks are Things To Do in the Autumn Garden by Tanya Visser on Friday, 3 March at Winston Park Primary School at 5.30pm; Butterfly Biodiversity in the Highway Area by Steve Woodall at the Auditorium, Rob Roy Lifestyle Village on Saturday, 4 March at 12.30pm; and Bringing Trees into the Garden by Janet Gates at the Gillitts Lions Club on Sunday, 5 March at 12.30pm.
