17 learners injured in taxi crash

The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle.

SEVENTEEN children were injured when a taxi smashed into a vehicle on Fisher Road in Hillcrest this morning.

According to reports, the driver of the taxi lost control of the vehicle on the wet road and collided with a Ford Figo at about 6.45am.

Rescue Care paramedics together with Meditech Paramedics responded to the scene just after 7am. More ambulances were called to assist with transporting the injured. “Multiple casualties were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required,” said Garrith Jamieson, the operations director for Rescue Care.

The driver of the taxi was not injured.
