UPDATE: #Durbanfire under control
The Durban community once again rallies around to assist during a crisis.
IT’S been more than 24 hours since a fire broke out at the largest wax warehouse in the southern hemisphere n South Coast Road near the Durban harbour.
Firefighters have worked tirelessly throughout the night to douse the flames.
According to Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson the fire is now under control.
Despite rumours of an evacuation operation doing the rounds, government has not yet granted the city permission to evacuate people in the nearby residential area.
Meanwhile, the Durban community has come together to assist the firefighters in every way they can and various Facebook community groups and neighbourhood watches have requested people help by donating bottled water and refreshments for the firefighters.

Thanks must go to the impressive and dedicated work of fire fighters, police, paramedics, Gift of the Givers and all those who assisted.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area. South Coast Road has been closed from the M7 to Bayhead Road in both directions due to the fire.
“Thus fire spread has been contained. So the flame is restricted to the wax section currently.
