Explore Highway’s hidden indigenous gems
The Kloof Conservancy's open garden is an event that is fun for the whole family.
THE Kloof Conservancy’s Indigenous Open Gardens Show is KwaZulu-Natal’s premier indigenous gardening event that takes place on 25 and 26 March.
The featured gardens can be found in Kloof, Waterfall and Hillcrest and are open to the public.
The event will also boast a variety of fun activities, plant and animal displays, craft sales and promises a weekend of delight for all gardening enthusiasts, creatives and the whole family.
There is so much to enjoy on the day such as children’s competition involving an information treasure hunt at each garden, there will be indigenous plant experts to answer all manner of questions you may have and raffles and a tuck-shop filled with delicious foods.
As an added plus, there will be an art display by learners from local schools, indigenous plant sales, garden crafts (wire/metal) for sale, a Kloof Conservancy information table and a useful invasive alien plants information display.

Tickets are R60 per person and can be purchased with cash or Zapper only.
Entrance is free for children under 12 years old.
The ticket includes access to the five indigenous gardens on show as well as a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake. Tickets can be bought at all of the indigenous open gardens as well as at the tea garden at Kloof Senior Primary School.
Proceeds go to the Kloof Conservancy, a key player in the protection and preservation of the amazing biodiversity found within the magnificent Kranzkloof Nature Reserve and its surrounds.
“Join us for a day of fun while raising funds for an amazing cause. Be inspired, be delighted and enjoy a day outdoors in a playground of indigenous colour,” said the Kloof Conservancy’s chairman, Paolo Candotti.
