GRADE 6 St Mary’s DSG learner, Rachel Cross, is its junior primary school’s SPAR Star of the Month.

Rachel received her KZN athletics colours and competed in the SA Schools Athletics National Competition in Potchefstroom recently. She jumped a personal best of 1.34m in the U12 high jump. She travelled straight to Sasolberg to race in the National Level 3 Club Gala and swam in six races and did exceptionally well.

In the 50m freestyle she won a bronze medal, in the 200m breaststroke she won another bronze medal and in the 50m breaststroke Rachel won a gold medal. Rachel also has her KZN swimming colours.

She is a valuable part of the St Mary’s senior primary swimming squad and athletics team, and is looking forward to playing netball this term. Her aim is to be part of the U12A team. In Rachel’s spare time she likes to ride horses and her goal is to represent South Africa and swim in the Olympics one day.
