John Wesley challenges schools to beat donation

The school handed over two trolley loads to the Pinetown and Highway, Child and Family Welfare Society.

JOHN Wesley School (JWS) collected grocery items after a plea from the Pinetown and Highway, Child and Family Welfare Society about their shelves running empty.

John Wesley’s marketing manager, Lilian Corden-Lloyd, said the school principal, Darron Tarr was touched by story that appeared in the Highway about the welfare running out of food which impacted on their work to help the less fortunate.

“He asked learners and families to help collect grocery items. Two full trolley loads were handed over during assembly on Wednesday morning to the Welfare Society food room coordinator, Ellen Attwell and social worker, Promise Magubane.

“We are proud to say, our JWS community rose to the challenge and we, in turn, would like to challenge all the Highway schools and businesses to do the same,” said Lilian.

Attwell said they were more than happy with the donation. “I am truly lost for words, I am very thankful to John Wesley School for hearing our plea.”
