The two men were convicted and sentenced to ten years by the Camperdown Magistrate's Court.

TWO men, Sibonelo Cele and Simo Kwanele Hlophe, both aged 19, were convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for house robbery recently by the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, on 27 December 2016, two people were at their home in Inchanga when they were accosted by the men.

“The victims were threatened with knives and were robbed of various items to the value of R35 000. A case of house robbery was opened at Inchanga police station. The accused were later arrested and charged for house robbery. Both accused appeared in court several times before they were convicted and sentenced,” said Manqele.

eThekwini Inner and Outer West Cluster Commander, Major General James Sayer, welcomed the sentence handed down by the court.

“We shall not rest until all criminals who are terrorising law abiding citizens are put behind bars,” he said.
