Man arrested for possession of car break-in implements

The same man was arrested earlier this year, he had been found guilty and sentenced to a short term in prison.

PAUL Rose, a Chiltern Hills Neighbourhood Watch patroller, was on the prowl last Friday when he spotted a man who was acting suspiciously.

He immediately called Sgt Stephen Clark of the Westville SAPS, who was with W/O Bramley at the time.

They drove around the area and found the man. After a quick search, they found a parcel which had fragments of a crushed spark plug.

Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer at Westville SAPS, said the chips, when thrown at a car window, shatters the glass immediately.

“The officers arrested the man for possession of car break-in implements. But it doesn’t end there. W/O Bramley recalled that he had arrested the same man earlier this year and he had been found guilty and sentenced to a short term in prison. We think it can be reasonably suspected he has been back to work and maybe diversified his craft,” said Squires.

She added that they are looking forward to the trial. A case of possession of car break-in implements is being investigated by Westville SAP.

“A massive thank you to Paul for his alertness and vigilance. Partnership with the police works,” said Squires.
