Budding scientist explores tooth stains

Pitlochry Primary School has chosen Grade 5 learner, Saiyuri Vallabh, as its SPAR Star of the Month.

Saiyuri, along with 500 other learners entered the Eskom Science Expo, which was held at the DUT Sports Hall on 17 August for the first time and she won a gold medal for her project in the Food Science category entitled Tooth Fairy – Think before you drink!

Using real teeth, and white eggshells she tested cold drinks, tea and coffee to determine which stained more.

Her results showed that cold drinks stain your teeth more than tea or coffee – and coffee stains more than tea.

So, think before you drink.

Well done to the budding scientist.
