Man arrested for rape and murder

The 33-year-old man was wanted after a half-naked body of a 31-year-old woman was found with a bullet wound to the head.

A MAN who was wanted for rape and murder was arrested last Wednesday morning.

The 33-year-old man was arrested by police during an intelligence driven operation by Pinetown Crime Intelligence and Operational Command Centre members in the Shallcross area.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele said the man was wanted after a half-naked body of a 31-year-old woman was found with a bullet wound to the head in the Emalangeni area, Mpumalanga township on 17 September.

“When the man was arrested, he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and 11 rounds of ammunition,” said Manqele.

He was charged for murder, rape and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
