Pinetown matric learners receive awards

Guest speaker, Dawn Harrison, has had a positive impact on the matric learners through her mentorship this year.

PINETOWN Girls’ High School held its annual Grade 12 speech and prize-giving at the school on Friday, 13 October.

Lusanda Sikhakhane was named the Dux and received the Loggenberg Award and Van Der Merwe Trophy while Sandisiwe Mthalane was named the Proxime Accessit (runner up to Dux) and received the Van Der Merwe Trophy.

There were many other prize winners including subject prize recipients.

Dawn Harrison was the guest speaker. She has worked with the NGO, the Zenex Foundation and Casme, as an English consultant and project facilitator for the Inkanyezi Project. Many of the school’s past learners have been the fortunate recipients of bursaries from the Inkanyezi Project and Dawn has had a positive impact on these girls through her mentorship.

Harrison wished the Matric Class of 2017 at the school all the best for their upcoming examinations.
