Pedestrian killed in Pinetown truck accident

It is believed the driver lost control of the truck, veered into oncoming traffic, collided with the light motor vehicle and then hit the man.

A MAN believed to be in his 40s, was killed this afternoon (Friday, 27 October) when he was hit by a truck on Old Main Road, Pinetown.

ER24 paramedics, along with another emergency service found the pedestrian lying in the middle of the road. A truck and light motor vehicle were found parked a short distance away.

“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. They immediately began CPR and advanced life support interventions in an effort to revive the patient. Unfortunately, after some time, no vital signs returned and the man was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the truck and light motor vehicle were not injured,” said ER24 spokesman, Russel Meiring.

Meiring said it is believed the driver lost control of the truck, veered into oncoming traffic, collided with the light motor vehicle and then hit the man.
