When and how did you get into baking?
As a child I used to bake with my mother, Celia, and grandmother, Helen, but started baking by myself in primary school.
What was the first item you ever baked?
It was nothing fancy, just butter biscuits.
What’s your signature bake?
I have a few; fruit cake, brownies and cheesecake.
What is your favourite dessert to eat?
This is a tricky one. You may think I’m boring, but apple crumble.
What ingredient can you not live without?
Butter. I don’t like substitutes. It has to be the real deal.
What’s your most memorable baking disaster?
I haven’t really had any I can think of, at the end of the day it’s only a cake and if it doesn’t go as planned you can try again.
What type of baker are you?
I like to bake things with strong flavours; my bakes must look good but taste even better!
How would other people describe you?
Funny, kind and generous.
What are you most nervous about in the competition?
Going home first, other than that, I just want to have fun.
If you could describe yourself as a type of cake, what would it be and why?
Something delicious that you can’t get enough of. It would be addictive and an absolute favourite.
If you could bake a cake for anyone, who would it be for and why?
Naomi Campbell, I love her.
What kind of cake would you make for her?
Something both amazing and decadent yet simple, a chocolate cake.
If you woke up on a deserted island, what three items you would want to have with you?
A toothbrush, toothpaste and soap. To be clean.
Describe how it feels to be on the show. Do you get nervous?
I will tell you what I told the other contestants: they chose us for a reason, stay calm and rely on your skills you have gathered over the years.
What is it you are most nervous to bake?
The technical recipes such as making bread.
