Disney’s ‘coming out’ scene gets Twitter tongues wagging

While some people applauded Disney for the gay story line in the second season in Andi Mack, others felt the topic was offensive and too mature for the audience.

DISNEY made history yesterday by airing its first gay story line.

The popular show, Andi Mack, returned to the airways on Friday for a second second last night.

In the pilot episode Andi’s 13-year-old friend Cyrus Goodman, played by Joshua Rush (15), came out about his sexuality to one of the characters, Buffy.

While the first season focused on the 13-year-old tittle character, played by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, the second season will enable audiences to follow Goodman as he struggles with his sexuality and figures out how to tell his new girlfriend.

After the episode aired Twitter exploded with many people praising Disney for its support for the LGTBQ community.

With many arguing that the show would help the younger generation.

However, on the other spectrum, others Twitter users were offended by the topic and felt that the subject was too mature for the audience. Those against the show began the #boycottdisney.
