Kearsney ends year with top national academic award

The three Grade 11 boys placed in the top one per cent of over 3 000 IEB candidates.

AS the year draws to a close, Kearsney College has received news of another outstanding national academic award.

Three boys have been placed in the top one per cent of Grade 11 candidates in the national IEBT benchmarking test for Mathematics.

They are: Edward Yeo (92.5 percent), Carl Combrinck (87.5 percent) and Thomas Lunde (87.5 percent).

Kearsney is the only independent boys’ school in the country to have three boys in the top one per cent.

School principal, Elwyn van den Aardweg, said academics continued to be Kearsney’s primary focus, “so we are always delighted when external benchmarks place Kearsney as a leader in education.

“During 2017, the University of Pretoria presented the school with an award for Excellence in Mathematics and Sciences; and now these Grade 11 boys have been placed in the top one percent of more than 3 000 IEB candidates. We’re exceptionally proud and it’s a wonderful way to wrap up the year,” he said.
