Soup kitchen spreads Christmas cheer
"To all the volunteers who worked hard to transform this hall and make the homeless people feel welcome, I am very grateful."
A SOUP kitchen which feeds homeless people in the Pinetown area hosted a Christmas party for 200 underprivileged residents. Heaven’s Kitchen was started by Kayleigh Symes in 2014 and it has since grown as there are more homeless people who depend on the soup kitchen to fill their empty stomachs.
With the help of many volunteers and friends, on Thursday, 7 December, the Pinetown Civic Centre was transformed with Christmas trees, decorations and beautifully set up tables.

The homeless people were treated to a starter, main course and dessert. They also received gifts and Christmas boxes with treats and goodies.
Symes said every December they host the Christmas party for the homeless to make them feel loved.
“We do this because we love the Heavenly Father and it’s not our place to judge them,” she said.

She thanked everyone who took time to make the day a success especially Upper Highway Function Hire who did the catering, worship team for singing Carols and Curry o’s for making Christmas boxes with treats and gifts.
“To all the volunteers who worked hard to transform this hall and make the homeless people feel welcome, I am very grateful,” she said.
Heaven’s Kitchen is always in need of food donations and volunteers to assist in the soup kitchen which is held every Thursday outside Tiger Wheels and Tyre.
