Siam Lee: ‘Let the facts speak for themselves’

Local private investigator, Brad Nathanson, stands by his recent arrest in the Siam Lee murder case.

A MEMORIAL service was held for Durban North resident, Siam Lee, at a private gathering at Stellawood Cemetery in Umbilo last Friday after KZN police confirmed that the charred body found in New Hanover more than a month ago was that of Lee.

Lee was reported missing in January and was allegedly kidnapped outside a Margaret Maytom Avenue home. Days later, her charred body was discovered by a farmer in a sugarcane field in New Hanover.

The Assagay resident accused of her murder, faces16 charges including kidnapping, rape and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. He is currently awaiting his bail hearing at the Durban Magistrate’s Court this week.

Controversy
Despite other media houses stating a witness, close to Lee, claimed her killer is a drug dealer and not the man who was arrested, local private investigator, Brad Nathanson, said he stands by his statements and the arrest.

“As if the pain of the funeral was not enough for family and friends, along comes a ‘confidential informant’ who paints Siam as a drug dealer, a user of Crystal Meth and Siam’s killer is discounted from serial rapist, kidnapper and murderer to ‘drug dealer’,” said Nathanson.

He said the “confidential informant” never approached the police or himself to give her statement.
He also said it is ironic that this story should surface simultaneously to a request from one of Carmen Nan Lee’s (Siam’s mother) friends for him to look into the alleged theft by another, of monies that were donated and should have been appropriated to Lee’s funeral.

Nathanson suggested that an article published on Sunday was designed by the “confidential informant” to take the spotlight off the theft which he believes he will get to the bottom of.

“Let the facts speak for themselves. His day in court is looming,” said Nathanson.

“The man arrested for the alleged murder of Siam, is indeed the monster under the bed.”

Nathanson said the suspect had been evading arrest until 17 January and is believed to have spent a long time depriving and harming people he believed he had authority over – “women’s bodies, other people’s money and even life”.

“He has instilled fear in so many and is now due to suffer the consequence of his actions. He is only 29. Siam was 20. I know so much about him that I cannot yet say but it will all come out because everything that goes on in the dark will be exposed in the light,” said Nathanson.
