Bikers sell boerwors rolls for children’s homes

The Pinetown Chapter of MAC's raise more than R2 000 per month for children's homes through the sale of boerwors rolls.

THE Pinetown Chapter of MAC’s did an outreach project last year to help raise funds for children’s homes in the area.

While the sale of boerewors rolls has continued to increase, the bikers are calling on the community to give their taste buds a treat by supporting the initiative.

The club’s president, Roaan Groenewald, said the bikers gather at the Circle of Friends in Queensbugh each Saturday and fire up the braai and sell boerewors rolls to the public.

Pick ‘n Pay Queensburgh has thrown their support behind the project by donating 48 rolls on a regular basis.

The club club buys the boerewors and sauces and the rolls sell for R20 each and the proceeds are donated to a children’s home in need.

“Some weekends we can sell up to 80 boerewors rolls. If we can get more people to support this, then we can, in turn, help those in need,” said Riaan.

“We help any children’s home that needs support. This is just a way for us to give back to the community. People often think that bikers are just doing this to make money for ourselves. But through this, we are able to give back more than R2 000 a month,” he said.

Isiaiah 54 was the recent beneficiary and the home’s founder, Glynnis Dauth, said, “We look after 11 children and we have a really large electricity bill. This will really help put a dent in it. We absolutely love what they’re able to do for us.”

The rolls are sold from 8.30am to 3pm each Saturday.
