Book now for MS wellness day
The KZN branch of the MS Society will have a host of guest speakers on the day to cover a wide range of topics.
THE MS Society KZN will host its Wellness Day on Saturday, 19 May at Bethany Gardens, 22 Hoogvorst Street, Pinetown from 9am until noon.
The event will focus on the emotional side of being a patient and carer and is not specifically unique to MS patients.
“Multiple Sclerosis is an auto-immune disease not many people know about and we are finding more and more people affected,” said the chairman of MS South Africa KZN, Dee Munks.
“For months and sometimes years, the symptoms can remain hidden, but they are very real to the sufferer. The constant, debilitating fatigue, the painful muscular spasms, the double or blurred vision, to name a few symptoms, can be debilitating,” she said.
Along with the physical symptoms, the society said it was aware of the emotional aspects of the disease.

It is a gruelling diagnosis to come to terms with as it is not temporary – it is for the rest of your life – slowly robbing the patient of some or all of their ability to move their limbs,” said Dee.
The guest speakers at the event are Deborah Don (Healing from Within), occupational therapist, Helen Roome (How Disease Affects the Whole Family), Mala Naidoo (Effect of a Chemical Imbalance: The impact of a Patient’s Emotional Roller Coaster with MS) and carer expert, Marge Warnes (What to watch out for being a Carer).
RSVP by Monday, 14 May to Corrie via e-mail at haroldthom@telkomsa.net. Contact Dee Munks on 083 411 4282.
