Sarah shares Easter spirit

The local girl guide collected more than 2 000 Easter eggs for underprivileged children in the greater Durban area.

IN the build up to Easter, Sarah Done of the Hillcrest Ranger Guide Crew, organised an Easter egg collection at Waterfall SuperSPAR as part of her community service project.

With the help of the girl guides from the 1st Hillcrest Guide Company and brownies from the Brownie Pack, more than 2 600 Easter eggs were collected.

“We approached SPAR shoppers as they entered the store and asked them to buy or donate a few marshmallow Easter eggs to our collection. The customers of Waterfall SuperSPAR were very generous,” said Sarah.

Her school, Wendon Academy, also took part in the collection and from 63 learners 356 Easter eggs were collected.

“I then organised with Kwa Thintwa School for the Deaf and Ethembeni School for the Disabled to deliver two Easter eggs to each learner and they were all thrilled to receive them,” said Sarah.

Easter eggs were also given to the Esibusisweni Orphanage, Zamahlubi Creche, Vumelane Care Centre, Thulathando Creche, the Zimele Centre for the Disabled and there are still a few eggs to be given away.

“Thank you to all those who contributed eggs and helped in the collection and distribution of the Easter eggs. It has been a great success. A big thank you to Des Quinn for allowing the girl guides to do our collection outside your store,” said Sarah.
