Learners taught to be a reading nation

A story teller and author were part of the Sorytelling and World Poetry Day celebrations at Pinetown Senior.

PINETOWN Senior Primary School joined forces with the local municipal library to celebrate Storytelling and World Poetry Day on Tuesday, 20 March.

A storyteller, Mzwandile Ntombela, entertained the learners with both an English and isiZulu story.

Author of the Unknown Journey, Sandhir Sewmungul, spoke about his book and bullying.

He emphasised the importance of writing as his personal pain was overcome through writing. Learners wrote and recited their poetry and Grade 7s launched their first newsletter to the school.

It is hoped that learners are inspired and encouraged to become active members of the library and become a reading nation.
