Past pupils guide learners

Parents and past pupils shared their working experience with Grade 9 and 11 learners at the annual Homegorwn Exhibition.

GRADE 9 and 11 learners at Thomas More College were given a wealth of knowledge at the recent annual Homegrown Exhibition.

The event is intended to bolster the ‘Inspired Education’ provided by the school by going beyond the national curriculum and provide learners with advice and education on the dynamic and expanding career paths of the modern, ‘real world’.

Past and present parents, along with many alumni, spent three hours with the Grade 9 and 11 learners, sharing their wisdom, experience and insights regarding their studies, careers and professions.

These 38 mentors were a veritable fountain of knowledge and provided a safe space in which the learner could find out the realities of a chosen profession.

“Thomas More College is deeply grateful for the selfless, enthused and energised manner in which our community gives so freely of themselves for the benefit of our learners each year,” said the Past Pupil chairman, Melanie Küster.
