Stick to liquor trading hours, warns Bellair SAPS
According to police, the stipulated trading hours are to prevent drunken driving, motor vehicle collisions and various crimes.

BELLAIR SAPS has issued a statement reminding residents of the rules about the sale of booze as the holiday season kicks into gear.
“Due to the festive season being upon us, it is always encouraged to remain safe and responsible,” said Bellair SAPS spokesperson, Sgt Pam Pillay.
“In light of this, SAPS Bellair wishes to bring to the attention of its residents in the Bellair policing area of the trading hours of the liquor outlets within the area.”
Pillay explained that the times which have been stipulated by the KZN Liquor Board determine when it is legal to buy or sell alcohol.

“It is illegal to operate outside of these trading hours. It is therefore imperative that business owners are advised to be in compliance with these times,” said Pillay adding that non-compliance will lead to prosecution.
“Compliance also means a safer environment for all, including road users,” said Pillay.
“It serves to prevent drunken driving, motor vehicle collisions, patrons who become vulnerable pedestrians or victims of crime and businesses that subject themselves to becoming victims of crime.”
Pillay advised those who find any liquor store trading outside the stipulated times to contact the Bellair SAPS designated liquor officer W/O Kumar, or herself during office hours on 031 4512807 or to contact the Bellair CPF.

“Complaint forms are available at the Bellair police station or can be obtained from the Bellair CPF. These forms can also be forwarded directly to the KZN Liquor Authority for investigation,” said Pillay
