Matric results: Waterfall College
Waterfall College had a 100 per cent pass rate and a 95 per cent bachelor degree pass.
IN its 14 years as an IEB affiliate high school, Waterfall College has enjoyed a 100 per cent pass rate, with the class of 2018 achieving the best results to date. This includes 95 per cent bachelor degree passes.
Special mention was made of Dylan Cooper (2018 Dux), Caitlin Smith (2018 Proxime Accessit), Tafadzwa Thabethe and Vaughan Lacon-Allin, who achieved the highest aggregates.
“We are particularly thrilled that a number of learners who have academic challenges achieved bachelor degree passes,” said Waterfall College’s principal, Jeanette van der Merwe. “This is testament to their hard work and our teachers’ commitment to nurturing the potential in each individual.”
Matric is a stressful time, as learners work to balance academics, sport and culture, while learning who they are and defining their dreams for the future.
“We are proud to have established systems and structures that support our learners during this time, and this year’s results reinforce their significance,” said van der Merwe. “Our learners have embraced the Waterfall College motto, ‘Per Ardua Ad Perfectum’ or ‘Through Hard Work, Excellence is Achieved’, putting in the effort needed to achieve their own personal excellence.”
For some, this means achieving a bachelor degree pass that will inspire them to pursue dreams that they may have felt, at some point, were out of reach. For others, this means securing a spot among South Africa’s high achievers.
