Highbury heroes tackle World Sleep Day

Hirsch's Hillcrest and Highbury Preparatory School recently teamed up to celebrate World Sleep Day with an unusual, fun and community-driven idea.

THEY managed to get more than 10 in a bed! Hirsch’s Hillcrest and Highbury Preparatory School recently teamed up to celebrate World Sleep Day with an unusual, fun and community-driven idea.

Together with Cloud Nine and Rest Assured, Hirsch’s branches throughout the country came up with an activation to see how many learners could fit onto a queen-size bed for at least 30 seconds – while raising money for a charitable project.

The Grade 4 learners at Highbury had great fun trying to see how many of them could squeeze on to the Rest Assured Bed. Their ‘Highbury Hug’ strategy enabled them to massively exceed the previous record of 35!

“Sleep is such an important part of our lives, particularly for young children. When we visited underprivileged pre-schools in the areas in which we operate, we found that the

children don’t have anywhere to sleep,” said Hirsch’s Hillcrest public relations officer Jonathan Brauteseth.

Many children stay up late waiting for parents to arrive home from a long commute so midday sleep at pre schools is vital for their wellbeing.

Cloud 9 and Rest Assured have come on board with us to donate sponge mattresses in each region for a pre-school of their choice, watch this space for a follow up announcement,” said Brauteseth.
