Inchanga PR councillor’s husband shot dead in Pinetown

Pinetown police are appealing for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect.

PINETOWN police are investigating a case of murder after a 41-year-old man from Inchanga was shot and killed on Monday.

It is alleged Lethukuthula Gumede, husband to PR councillor, Nokukhanya Gumede, was talking to the owner of a hardware store in Stanfield Lane in Pinetown when an unknown gunman emerged, shot him twice in the head and fled.

“Police were called to the scene where they found two spent cartridges. No arrests have been made as yet,” said Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele.

Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect is urged to contact Lt/Col Bhekinkosi Mwelase on 079 500 0402, Pinetown SAPS on 031 325 5081/2/3 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
