In 2013, he was selected to be part of the KZN Choir. Siwela studied live performance majoring in music at AFDA and graduated this year with a Bachelor’s Degree.

“My parents were not too sure about the choir and music thing, so I decided to work towards an engineering degree, but dropped out as I knew I had a strong desire to do music,” said Siwela. The young musician grew up in Mpola a semi rural/township area in Mariannhill.

“Being a black child, I have felt alone in my journey with music as I believe I was expected to follow a conventional career path.”It was such an honour for Siwele to be approached by one of his lecturers who listened to his music and wanted to work with him beyond the classroom as a producer for his latest work, Risky business.

Siwela described Risky business as dance music with a blend of pop.

“The target market for my music is the youth. I want my music to inspire people as I still want it to teach young people something,” he said.
