KLOOF High School’s SPAR Star of the Month is Job Madi.
Originally from the Congo DRC, he started his high school career at George Campbell, later moved to Durban North College and finally settled at Kloof High School, where he said he started to really enjoy his school career.
“I was able to better my rugby with amazing coaches who were always ready to help,” he said. Even though he was an U15 player, he made it to the second round of the U16 Grant Khomo trials and yet again in 2017. In the same year he also made the school’s first team for the night series squad. He was the only U16 player and later that year he was awarded with a first team cap and was also a regular starter in the first team 7s.
“In 2018, I made the first team rugby team but half way through the season I was injured and booked off for the remainder of the season. I shifted my focus towards healing and coming back even stronger,” said the determined learner.
“I am the first team’s vice captain and was also awarded Forward of the Tournament at the Trevton Festival and made it to the final round of KZN U18 rugby trials.”
He was also selected for the Valley Project, a partner outreach programme that is partnered with Hillcrest High School.
As a few added extras, he is a member of the school’s magazine team, is an academic monitor and is on the Matric Dance Committee. “At the end of last year I was also chosen as the Deputy Head Boy for 2019,” beamed Job.
