Jenna makes history in equestrian sports arena

Jenna (Grade 7) continues to excel at the top level of affiliation with South African Show Jumping (SASJ), against SA’s best riders.

CURRENTLY ranked as one of the top junior riders in the 1.10m grade in South Africa, Hillcrest Primary’s Jenna Glancey is obtaining excellent achievements in the equestrian sports arena. Jenna, who has also moved to the 1.20m show jumping classes as the youngest child rider among the juniors in KwaZulu Natal, has been chosen as the school’s SPAR Star of the Month for her accomplishments, hard work, dedication and determination.

Jenna (Grade 7) continues to excel at the top level of affiliation with South African Show Jumping (SASJ), against SA’s best riders.

Just before the July holiday, Jenna competed at the Nissan World Cup Qualifier, in the 1.10 junior class and was the youngest child rider with special dispensation to ride, in the class. Over six seriously competitive rounds, well attended with 30 odd riders competing in each class, Jenna placed in the top six in all classes.

Hillcrest Primary’s Kim Joubert, said, “After Nissen, she competed at Interbranch, an international accredited pony club. She won the show jumping, equitation and eventing classes, and she went on to compete inter regional and received Half Inter Regional Pony Club Colours in her grade. Jenna won the overall showjumper and equitation trophy of the Pony Club in her classes. Jenna received many medals, trophies and rosettes, from the Interbranch show.

“Straight from Interbranch, into the FEI World Cup Qualifier. The Gold Tour category, was open to riders under the age of 14 to compete in the 1.20m show jumping class, which took place over four rounds. The overall winner, in each participating country and the top 20 riders worldwide, are invited to travel overseas, to compete and represent their country. Jenna proceed to win the Gold Tour 1.20m Championship Class and was beaten by .42 of a second for the overall Gold Tour FEI win. Jenna has a good chance of qualifying to represent South Africa in New Zealand in 2020, at the World Cup Qualifier for children. Should Jenna qualify she will receive her Springbok colours,” added Joubert.
