KHBA needs your urgent support

The local NPO has been digging into its savings each month to cover its shortfall.

WITH 14 years of tireless work to ensure Hillcrest’s pristine environment is maintained, the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association (KHBA) has made an urgent appeal for assistance from businesses and residents to donate.

The KHBA has found itself in a severely constrained financial situation that dates back to 2018 due to the cessation of funding from municipal contracts worth about R30 000 per month.

“This loss of funds has resulted in us having to utilise our accumulated savings to cover the shortfall of R3 000 per month, which is unsustainable. The result is the real possibility of having to cease operations undertaken by KHBA,” said NPO member, Marge Mitchell.

“In addition, our other sources of income, such as fees for recyclables, have been reduced by up to 80 per cent in some instances. This is due to a glut of recyclables worldwide,” said Mitchell.

Grateful to its current five sponsors and one Adopt-a-Spot contributor, they are in desperate need of other local businesses and residents to assist.

“We earnestly appeal to businesses who desire the continuation of KHBA’s mandate of beautifying the area to everyone’s benefit, to please consider sponsoring us,” said Mitchell.

The Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association is a registered non-profit organisation and can issue tax 18A certificates. To donate or Adopt-A-Spot, contact Marge Mitchell on 083 419 3807 or email mmitchell@tiscali.co.za
