Farewell to Upper Highway’s legendary Bryce

Bryce Winterburn was an inspiration and mentor to all he met.

BRYCE Winterburn, who died recently, will always be remembered for his amazing character and the invaluable role he played in the Upper Highway community.

Bryce, a double amputee, was an inspiration to many people, according to his daughter, Kylie Oberholzer.

“Every once in a while, a legend is born. A person who impacts each individual they come into contact with; someone who leaves a lasting impression on you. Bryce Winterburn (AKA Legless) was one of those people,” she said.

“What a blessing it is to say that one of the greatest men I’ve ever known, was my own father! He could have so often have said, Why me? But instead, made his life motto, “Try me!”

“You could never leave his presence without feeling better about yourself, as well as the world around you. He was an inspiration and role model to so many. From fishing trips to Mozambique, eating more crayfish than anyone thought possible; to running a successful second-hand furniture business, Bargain Bin, that he founded along with his beloved wife, Michelle in 1990.”

Kylie said her dad lived a good life. “His optimistic nature and kind words of wisdom will be sorely missed – not only by his family and friends but by many of the Upper Highway community.

“Fly high dad! You have left such a legacy in your wake!”
