Quest for treasure at Kloof SPCA’s thrift stores

Many of the Kloof and Highway SPCA's thrift stores are now open for business.

FIND a treasure in one of The Kloof and Highway SPCA shops, which opened on Monday, 1 June 2020.

Its Maytime Thrift Shop is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm and on Saturday from 9am to 12.30pm while its Hillcrest Thrift Shop is open from Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm and from Saturday between 8am and 12pm.

The on-site thrift shops that are open include the Fine Feathers Marquee, The Attic and Cabin, The Bookshop and its nursery are open from Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm and on Saturday from 8am to 12pm. Busypin, in the tea garden, is open for takeaways Monday to Friday at the same times.

Kevin Ellis and Gareth Greaves, who have run their own shop for 20 years and have supported the Kloof and Highway SPCA for an equal number of years, gave of their time to set up the Hidden Treasures Shop at the Kloof and Highway SPCA in its marquee.

“Please be advised that masks are compulsory at all times and we take your temperature on arrival as well as your details for our records. If you are high risk or not well, please don’t visit yet,” said the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s manager, Barbara Patrick.

“We will be restricting the number of people per shop so please be patient and enjoy your time with us. You will be required to sanitise before entering our shops or tea garden area. We thank you for your patience and co-operation during this level 3 lockdown period.”

“Thank you to everyone who has generously donated their sellable, pre-loved items to our SPCA, we cannot thank you enough. Please continue to support us as we need your help now more than ever,” said Barbara.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA urged visitors to adhere to the social distancing rules.
