Municipal worker held up by armed men in Westville, three nabbed

The municipal worker was held up by the armed men just after 8am.

THREE suspects, who were spotted in a getaway vehicle used earlier this morning (Thursday, 1 October), were arrested by police and security companies near the Westville Post Office.

According to Cpt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer for Westville SAPS, a municipal worker, who had been held up by the armed men just after 8am, alerted security companies and neighbourhood watch groups.

Squires said the municipal worker jumped into a patroller’s vehicle and they gave chase. 

The patroller and municipal worker contacted Cpt Wynand Laatz who, along with Cnst Sajeel Shukla, had been attending to the incident on Tweed Road, assumed to be a housebreaking.

“Three suspects, aged between 20 and 30, have been arrested and detained for attempted robbery and pointing of a firearm,” said Squires.
