Take a bite from Hillcrest author’s new Awkward series

There are currently four books, with more to come, in the Awkward series by Rachel Rhodes.

PREPARE to delve into the most awkward moments as the talented Hillcrest-based author, Melissa Delport recently launched a juicy new series of books under the guise of Rachel Rhodes.

With no consecutive reading order, as each of the stories are all standalone novels in the Awkward world, you can choose to start with any of the four ebooks that are available for download.

Delport’s love for writing has allowed her to branch out across genres, from her popular contemporary romance novels, such as Rainfall, Riven and A Life Made of Lava (the latter two written under her pen name, Lissa Del) to her dystopian Legacy series and the action-packed fantasy romance novels in the Guardians of Summerfeld series.

“I love a good romantic comedy, something light and easy, true escapism, especially now with the world gone mad, it is nice to have something fun and quick to read,” said Delport.

She chose to write them under a pseudonym due to branding, because of her work across varying genres, and ensure her readers knew exactly what they were getting when they picked up the books.

The Awkward series has strong influences from works by Sophie Kinsella and Marian Keyes.

“What I would like my readers to get out of these books when they are done is to feel light-hearted and knowing they have spent an awesome afternoon escaping, curled up with a good book. They are like romantic-comedy movies in book form, with added suspense and intrigue,” said Delport.

These four books, Awkward in Print, Awkward Abroad, Awkward in Trouble and Awkward Infidelity, are, quite honestly, the perfect binge reads for when you’re heading out to the beach, going on holiday or are stuck inside on a rainy afternoon.

Awkward in Print
JOJO Hudson is a Hollywood megastar with an equally large secret. One that, if it was ever revealed, could destroy her reputation, her career, and her engagement to billionaire, Alex Masters.
Fortunately for her, the only other person who knows the truth has been absent for more than six years. Except, he’s decided to make a rather untimely return.

When Ace walks back into her life he threatens to reveal her scandalous secret to the world and Jojo finds herself in an impossible situation. She can either succumb to Ace’s blackmail and lose Alex or defy Ace and lose everything.

As her life enters a frenetic downward spiral, Jojo needs to find a way to turn the tables on her old flame while fighting the same law of attraction that landed her in trouble in the first place.

Awkward Abroad
SOCIALITE, Amber Holland has everything she could ever want: a penthouse apartment, platinum credit card and designer clothing, all paid for by her property tycoon father. She sees no reason things should change but her father, on the other hand, is starting to see the error of his ways. His daughter is in serious danger of becoming a spoilt brat.

Melissa Delport, writing as Rachel Rhodes, launches four books in her new Awkward Series.

With her insatiable appetite for members of the opposite sex, constant partying and copious spending, it becomes too much for the old man to bear and Amber finds herself marooned in Beijing with no credit line and strict instruction to make her own way for the next year.

Armed with her wits, she soon finds a solution to her problems. It may be a bit risky, but the reward, Amber feels, is worth it. Unfortunately, her father has also sent her former best friend and current mortal enemy, the incorrigible Kent James, to keep a watchful eye on her.

She has two choices, either survive the year in China or be dragged back to the states and face the consequences of her actions.

Awkward in Trouble
EMMA Johnson has a thriving career, a beautiful four-year-old daughter, and an utterly irresistible new boyfriend. Unfortunately, Emma’s best friend, Megan, cannot resist the challenge of an unavailable man.

Stunned by the depth of Megan’s sudden betrayal, Emma finds herself in a full-scale war of professional rivalry with her former best friend. When she joins forces with the handsome new sales executive, who replaces Megan at her firm, Emma’s life is thrown into turmoil. Torn between her boyfriend and the man who has become the shoulder she cries on, Emma is faced with an impossible choice.

One man is lying to Emma, but she has no idea which one it is.

Awkward Infidelity
CAT Davis never meant to have an affair and she most certainly did not mean for it to be with her own lying, cheating husband, Aaron. Unfortunately, he has Cat wrapped around his little finger and when he calls, she answers.

When Cat meets Blake, a surgical intern with a heart of gold, she is determined to end things with her estranged husband for good, but this only fuels Aaron’s desire as he wants what he can’t have. The more Cat denies him, the further he’s willing to go to get it.

As the flames of Aaron’s twisted lust continue to spiral, Cat is determined to douse them before she’s consumed by the fire and her relationship with Blake is burnt to a crisp.
