Four children held at gunpoint in two Durban home robberies
The one incident happened in Seaview on Saturday evening while the second robbery took place in Wyebank that afternoon.
ON Saturday evening a child was held up at gunpoint while the rest of the family was forced to watch during a violent home robbery in Seaview.
According to Blue Security’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, three armed men jumped over the fence and kicked open the front door to gain entry to the home.
“The suspects entered the lounge and held a child, who was watching TV, at gunpoint. The men continued to threaten the rest of the family by holding the child at gunpoint while ransacking the house,” he said.
It was reported that the suspects stole a flatscreen TV and an Xbox and fled in a hatchback vehicle.
No injuries were reported and no shots were fired. Mathios said that Blue Security said a panic activation was received at about 8.30pm, but the suspects had already fled the scene when the security company arrived.

In a separate incident on Saturday afternoon, three children in Wyebank were forced to sit in the lounge by armed suspects while the gang ransacked and burgled the home.
The armed-response units sent to the scene were informed that four armed men jumped over the low front wall, forced open the kitchen gate and entered the home.
“The family members were warned not to scream and threatened at gunpoint to remain in the lounge while the gang members searched the house for valuables,” he said.
Mathios noted that eyewitnesses reported the suspects fled in a white VW Polo. The gang stole two flatscreen TVs, one cellphone and a gate remote.
“Fortunately no shots were fired and no injuries sustained. Blue Security did advise that crisis care be arranged for the distressed family members. Investigations are continuing,” he said.
