10 Things To Do Every Day To Keep Healthy and Happy
Trying to get the whole family to join in on your idea of fun can be difficult. Whilst you might enjoy going to the park for a bit of fresh air, your teenagers might prefer to catch up on their favourite television show.

Let’s keep it simple and try out some things that will keep everyone healthy and happy. Here are 10 ways to start:
Practice Gratitude
Regularly practicing gratitude as a family allows everyone to take time to reflect upon the things they are thankful for. This leads to more positive emotions and over time – stronger immune systems! Gratitude is important, so have everyone share one specific thing that they are grateful for at the end of each day.
Break A Sweat
Encouraging everyone to workout with you might appear boring to the kids. Here’s a solution: find something that the whole family enjoys doing. Instead of your usual exercise routine, try cycling or jumping on a trampoline in the backyard. Let your imagination run wild.
Spend Time in Nature
In a series of studies, scientists found that when people spend time in natural surroundings – forests, parks and other places with plenty of trees – they experience increased immune function. For many people, spending time in nature also brings about a feeling of serenity, peace, and calm. So, if you want your family to be more relaxed, go outside.
Limit Sugar Intake
There are plenty of reasons to limit your sugar intake. If it isn’t causing cavities, it is negatively affecting your immune system. Start small by cutting out one sugary item per week, try ditching the sweetened drinks and if you’re brave enough, there are plenty of no-sugar challenges online that you can sign up for.
Laugh. Like, A Lot
Laughter is essential to both emotional and physical health. Do more things that make you laugh. Watch more comedies with the family and unleash your goofy side – anything to keep the atmosphere lighthearted.
Turn Off Electronic Devices At Night
Lying in bed, with the lights off and a screen in front of you affects the quality of your sleep as it suppresses the release of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin. Implement a digital curfew where the family is expected to unplug all electronic devices. Set a time before bed, an hour at least, where your family goes completely offline. A good substitution would be reading an old-fashioned, printed book.
Get Enough Sleep
It is almost impossible to function without sleep. There is a direct link between a healthier and happier you and enough sleep. By getting the recommended amount of sleep (7 – 9 hours), you’re helping your body by reducing stress levels. These are simple ways to achieve your healthy living goals. Try them out.
