PINETOWN SAPS has urged motorists to be extra cautious.

This comes after an increase in robberies in which delivery vehicles have also been targeted in the notorious Pinetown CBD.  

Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele issued a warning to the public, especially motorists, about the increase in robberies.

Manqele said Pinetown has a huge industrial area and people who are doing business in the area are targeted by criminals.

“Most robbery cases are reported on Josiah Gumede Road during peak hours or when there is traffic congestion. Delivery vehicles are also targeted and goods are stolen from the vehicles,” he said. 

Manqele appealed to motorists to not open their windows when approaching intersections and to ensure their vehicles are properly locked when doing deliveries.
