Upper Highway NPO brings relief to families
Heart in Hands gathered nearly five tons of food and toiletries which were distributed to people in need.
EMBO pastors who support children, elderly and the disabled in the community were thankful for the generous donation of food and toiletries.
The food was donated by the Hearts in Hands Foodbank NPO (HIH) after gathering nearly five tons of fresh produce from local farmers, non-perishables, bread, generously donated by BB Bakeries, and toiletries.

The NPO worked around the clock to get food, fresh produce and supplies into the hands of those who needed it the most.
Serving in surrounding communities from Waterfall, Embo and Hillcrest through to Pinetown, New Germany, Durban, Bluff and Phoenix, the NPO founder, Tracy Klokie, said they could not rest until they knew they had helped in some way to bring relief to the families.
“We have fostered a strong relationship with the communities over the past 18 months since inception of this NPO at the start of lockdown last year,” she said.

Pastor Leonard Gcabashe, who works closely with Philakade Care Home and Philakahle Children’s Home, homes that work with the elderly with disabilities and children in the community, said the food relief has helped so many this past week.
“We could not have done this without the help of Hearts in Hands. With so many of the children and elderly on medication, the results without this support would have been catastrophic. Thank you. We are immensely grateful to all that show HiH their support,” he said.
