Highway snake catcher hosts fascinating snake talk

Nick Evans educated Glenpark residents on what to do with their dogs when there is a snake around.

HIGHWAY snake catcher, Nick Evans visited a dog training school in Glenpark on Saturday, October 9 to educate the public on what to do with their dogs when there is a snake around.

The snake catcher also gave a basic snake awareness and identification talk.

Evans advised people to keep their dogs away if there is a snake around.

“If they do get bitten, they should be taken to the vet. The pet owners can also take a picture of the snake, but it’s not really a necessity,” said Evans.

He added that if a dog is spat at by a cobra, the venom should be rinsed off immediately with water.

The owner of Chebeau Dog Training School, Sharman Collins conveyed a ‘thank you’ to Evans and everyone and who made the day a success.

“Nick gave a fascinating talk on snakes in our local area and Harley, the rotti, gave us a perfect demonstration on what to do when your dog encounters a snake,” said Collins.
