Local NPO to host a rocking market

The Kloof and Highway SPCA rock-themed market will provide entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

THE Kloof and Highway SPCA will host the second in a series of five rock hunts to be staged in Durban over the festive season.

This will be held on Thursday, December 16. In addition to this, there is a rock-themed market and wonderful entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

Bring along friends, family and a bit of cash to treat yourself to tea and treats, a briyani, or a rummage through the SPCA’s fascinating stalls, while the children hunt down the little treasures.

Choose your favourite stone, then hide it again for others to enjoy.

The rock hunts are free of charge and are aimed at creating organ and tissue donor awareness for Hero777.

The rocks are decorated by organ and tissue donor awareness volunteers for Hero777, Janet Legemaate, Janine Magree and Jocelyn Gray.

Hero777 designed and created the first phase of a memorial garden for organ and tissue donors at the Durban Botanic Gardens recently.

Since then, the garden has drawn a great deal of positive attention from the public and is a quiet, but uplifting place for donor families and recipients to reflect.

More than 1 100 stones will ultimately be included in the five rock hunts organised by Hero777, in conjunction with the rock group, Bryn rocks Durban, in the run-up to Christmas.

The first rock hunt kicked off on November 20 as a preliminary event to publicise the Durban Botanic Gardens’ Trail of Lights rock hunts.

The Hero777 crew will stage other hunts on Saturday, December 11, 18 and 24 during The Trail of Lights.
