In light of Holy Week commencing from, April 10 and leading up to Easter Sunday on April 17. I am going to share my go-to fashion as well as discuss the symbolism behind some of my most loved traditions.
Holy Thursday
Holy Thursday commemorates the Washing of the Feet and the last supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles where he established the sacrament of Holy Communion prior to his arrest and crucifixion.
To solemnize this auspicious day, for this day I would keep it simple by wearing a plain purple dress with black stockings and boots as Catholic’s believe that purple reflects the sorrow and suffering of Jesus.
Good Friday
Good Friday refers to the Friday before Easter. On this day Christians around the world observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Christians reflect on Jesus’ death on the cross for the sins of all humanity. In respect to this Holy day, I would wear a black dress with black heels to church to mourn the death of Jesus Christ.
Although this dress may be modest and church appropriate I chose this dress for its edgy details. Specifically, this dress is high neck, with a sheer back, embroidery embellishments and ruffles to top it off. This outfit makes me feel fabulous and respectful to my religion at the same time.
Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday)
This day commemorates the end of fasting and the Lenten season, falling on the day before Easter Sunday. Christians observe this day as the final day of Christ’s death, which is traditionally associated with his triumphant descent into hell.
On this evening for mass (church) I would usually dress my best. Typically, I would wear a midi length dress with killer black heels to complete the look. I chose this dress because its light, flowy, fashion forward and comfortable.
Before we end off, from the Caxton family and myself, I would like to wish all our readers a very happy Easter.
Always remember, stay true to yourself and change the fashion to fit you, not the other way around. That way you will always remain, FABULOUSLY YOU!
