Forecasters have issued an orange level 8 warning
The heavy rains that have been pelting down on KwaZulu Natal have continued to cause havoc across the province, with reports of serious localized flooding.

Forecasters have issued an orange level 8 warning, advising citizens to exercise extreme caution as torrential rains continue to pelt sections of the province, including Durban, Margate, Port Shepstone, and Harding.

Thandiwe Gumede of the meteorological office explains that the province is suffering as a result of a cut-off low pressure system that has engulfed the country’s eastern areas and centered over KZN’s south eastern districts.
“Today’s rain is expected to continue mostly over the southern parts. Areas like Margate, Port Edward, Port Shepstone, moving through the Midlands to areas like Harding, Umzimkulu, Mzwabantu, moving north a bit to Richmond, Pietermaritzburg’s side, including Durban and most parts of eThekwini as well will be effected.”
Heavy rains and storms unleashed massive flooding of roads, towns, schools, and bridges across KZN overnight, creating chaotic scenes. More sinkholes, mudslides, soil erosion, and serious traffic disruptions are expected, according to Gumede.
