Westville man left critical after shooting

The victim sustained injuries to his lower limbs.

PARAMEDICS responded to a shooting incident on Melrose Avenue in Westville’s Berea West neighborhood shortly after 19:00 on Friday, May 13.

According to Kyle van Reenen from Emer-G-med, a 30-year-old man was found in a critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his lower limbs.

“He required advanced life support to stabilize him before being sent to a local hospital for additional treatment,” said van Reenen.

The reasons behind the incident and the events leading up to it are unknown and will be investigated by the South African Police Service.
