Young entrepreneurs shine at kiddies market

Aspiring entrepreneurs got to live their dreams at the Kiddies' Market at Portman Park .

Bus was booming at the Kiddies’ Market held at Portman Park in Westville recently, where young entrepreneurs showcased their creative talents. The market, the brainchild of local mom Melissa Richardson and her sister, Kirstie Kinsella, provided a platform for kids to exhibit their crafts and baking skills.

“My children are little entrepreneurs who are always baking and wanting to sell things outside our house. We partnered with Portman Park and asked a Westville Conservancy member if we could hosta market here. The response was overwhelming, with people signing up every week leading up to the market day,” Richardson explained.

Richardson noted that the market also gave back to the community, with each stall paying R50 which was donated to the Westville Conservancy to maintain the park. The community turned out in full force with stakeholders present to support the initiative.
