Highway Hospice Charity Shop calls for volunteers

To continue their services to the community, the Highway Hospice Charity Shop is calling for more volunteers.

THE Highway Hospice Charity Shop is inviting community members to lend a helping hand and join its dedicated team of volunteers. Located at 5 Butt Road, Pinetown, the shop serves as a vital fundraising initiative for the Highway Hospice, which provides palliative care for individuals with terminal illness in their final stages of life.

Speaking to The Highway Mail, Janine Gous shared that donations picked up during the festive period improved sales and raised much-needed funds for the hospice.
“The year started by spring cleaning and opening the shop with an enticing ‘R1 room’. This enabled us to help make space for the new donations; we are so grateful for every donation we have received,” she said.

Following the sale, the charity shop is hosting Canvas Week, where various creative art pieces are showcased. This is an initiative by one of their volunteers, Dale Gillingwater.
“We hope that the steady stream of donations will continue and improve. We have exciting activities planned for the year ahead,” said Gous.

Gous emphasised the need for extra hands.

“We are appealing for volunteers to assist in sorting through the donations and keeping the shop running smoothly. Any help would be greatly appreciated,” she said.
